Botaira Eco-Resort

STIL is a represented on the Board of Directors providing direct and on-going advice to the Fijian owners and operators, Jerry and Alumita Sovatabua, who returned to their own island in 2004 to establish Botaira Eco-Resort, after many years of professional experience in a 5 star Fijian hotel on the mainland. STIL provides ‘on-site’ management and staff training, involving the four village communities situated on the island. We have also provided assistance with the establishment of a marine protected area, an alternative energy program and the ‘Kitchen Farm’ project, which utilises the ‘on-site’ plantation to supply all of the vegetables and fruits for the resort menu and tropical flowers for decorations.

Botaira Eco-Resort is located on the western side of Naviti Island, the largest island in the Yasawa Group and is 20 mins by road from Nadi Airport to Denarau Marina, then 3 hours by boat on the ‘Yasawa Flyer’, a comfortable, air-conditioned, high-speed 25 metre catamaran which leaves daily from Denarau at 8.30am. Situated on a remote volcanic island with a tropical rainforest, a near perfect beach and protected reef, Botaira is a nature lovers paradise. The accommodation features 11 spacious contemporary Fijian style bures with modern ensuite facilities all sited on an absolute beachfront location.

Guided ecotours include: local village trips for a cultural experience, attend a church service, visit a school or buy locally made handicrafts; sea kayaking; mountain ridge and forest hiking; lend a hand in the plantation garden; or go scuba diving with the famous manta rays (these creatures are big but harmless, as they don’t have the stinging barbs!) at nearby ‘Manta Ray Passage’, a 20 minute boat ride away.
